Hello, I’m Mark McKenna, the owner and lead trainer at Aylesbury Vale Dog Training. With a lifetime of experience in handling, showing, and training dogs, I bring a lifetime of dedication and passion to my work with dogs and their owners. I’ve had the privilege of working with a variety of breeds, but I’m particularly drawn to the athletic bull breeds, Dobermanns, Shepherds, HPR gun dogs, and Mastiffs. These breeds often present unique challenges, especially for newer dog owners, and I take pride in guiding people through these complexities.

Training dogs today is different from what it once was, especially with many pet dogs displaying a new intensity in their behaviour since COVID. I work holistically, helping owners understand and meet their dogs’ physical and emotional needs while addressing problem behaviours and reinforcing positive ones. My approach is straightforward and tailored to each individual dog, empowering owners with the confidence and skills they need for a happier, more fulfilling relationship with their dogs.

At Aylesbury Vale Dog Training, you’ll experience a blend of personalised one-to-one sessions on my private training field and, when necessary, on-location training to help generalise behaviours in real-world settings. I also offer small group classes for advanced socialisation, where every dog’s individual needs are recognised and supported. My methods are reward-based, using food, toys, and games as motivation, yet I’m experienced in managing situations where a more complex approach is needed.
